Hi Petrica!

I am Joseph. I love having ice cream and sharing it with others. But tell me one thing: why do people tend to eat ice cream when they are sad or depressed? Is there any specific reason for it?

Regards,

Joseph

Hi Joseph!

Even I love eating ice cream. Ice cream releases happy chemicals. They are called dopamines. And eating ice cream is one of the ways to deal with stress and depression. In fact, it is an easy way of reducing the pain that we experience.

I used to do that when I was 18 years old, and when I would have a tough day or be unhappy with my life. So, it is just like eating your feelings. In simple words, it is a maladaptive coping mechanism because, after having it, you feel better.

I read about it in an online journal today, hence sharing this with you.

Love,

Petrica
