So, yesterday while I was going through your Instagram, I saw a picture of yours where you had shared your first tattoo story. I was in love with the picture and the tattoo. Hence, I was planning to get a tattoo done for myself.
But I have heard that people with tattoos cannot donate blood. Is that so? I mean, if that is the thing, then I won’t get a tattoo done for myself.

Thank you so much for the compliment. Yes, the tattoo had a story to tell. It was my first ever tattoo and I wanted something unique. So, when I thought about it I thought of writing my Mother’s name on my left hand.
Because she has always been special to me, so, I went to a tattoo artist, got my appointment, and told him my idea of getting my mother’s name embossed onto my left hand. He showed me a couple of designs that were apt according to my Mother’s name.
And this was how I got my first tattoo done. You know Jenna, when I asked the same question to my tattoo artist, he gave me a very simple, yet very precise answer. He told me, “According to most medical experts, the rule of thumb is that if you have a tattoo, you can only donate blood one year after getting it. Because metal, ink, or any foreign object in your body affects your immune system and you may get exposed to harmful viruses. It affects our bloodstream and results in an unsuccessful donation since the blood gets compromised.”
So, that’s the only reason people with tattoos cannot donate blood. Also, you can have a word on this to your tattooist before getting it done.
