I understand your problem and it is relatable to me. Well, firstly I would say that treat your employees with respect.
You do not own them and we all have a right to move on. So, always wish them right and send them off with great respect.
Many years ago, there was a workmate with who I did not respect and did not get along particularly well.
Eventually, I changed from being an employee to a designer for this company and in time he was promoted to my Creative Head.
He now had the authority to seriously affect my income, if he wanted to. I congratulated him on his promotion. He did everything possible to cooperate with him in his new designated position.
Fortunately for me, he embraced this and we then get along well. But it would’ve been difficult to use his newfound power to make me pay for our differences.
That was a huge lesson for me. I hope you understood this.
