World Smile Day was first observed in 1999 and is observed on the first Friday of October. It’s a day to strive to smile more frequently, to feel good, and perhaps to make other people smile by doing kind deeds. Therefore, set aside all of your concerns and misunderstandings and spend the entire day grinning and having fun!

The smiling face emoji is widely used and has become an integral aspect of interpersonal communication.

The smiley face was invented in 1963 by Massachusetts-born artist and designer Harvey Ball. Everyone began using the symbol to communicate, in advertising campaigns, and on television as it swiftly gained popularity. There were smiling faces everywhere. The image quickly went viral, and no one could help but recognise it by the time it did.

Harvey Ball was apprehensive about the commercialization of his invention because of this increase in popularity. That detracted from his original goal when he designed the smiley face, which was to have an image that represented joy and goodwill. Ball developed the concept of World Smile Day in 1999 to avoid that. He urged individuals to set aside at least one day each year for kindness and smiles, regardless of politics, religion, or other differences in viewpoint. The Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation took over the planning of this day after he passed away in 2001.

What can you on This Day?

Today is all about acting in a way that makes you feel good while also being helpful to other people. Whether it’s a member of your family, a friend, or a total stranger, you may achieve this by making them smile, whether it’s by delivering a joke or by doing something good for them at random.
You can go to an event that the World Smile Foundation sponsors if you reside close to Worcester, Massachusetts, the city that gave the world the smiley face.
