QUESTION

Hi Kiara,

It is my first time asking for your help. How can I romance if I’m broke? Back when we used to go out, we enjoyed shopping and eating lavishly. Since I’m in a new city, I don’t have to spend much to have a romantic date. I want to know how I can romanticize without spending a lot of money.

Thanks,

Josh!

ANSWER

Hi Josh,

Thanks for stopping by. I am sure that most of us have looked into our wallets at some point and been disappointed. It’s not that most of us are broke, but we’re just going through a transition. In truth, nothing – not even money – stands in our way of pursuing love and enjoying relationships. You can have all the magic thrills of loving and being loved – on a budget, of course – by following these date ideas:

Enjoy a stargazing session.

It’s free, romantic, and so easy! You can do this from your backyard or at your local park. I would recommend that you head down to your park and grab a telescope (though it is equally as gorgeous without one), blankets, and a bottle of wine that will make this experience just as memorable. Trying to find all the constellations while curled up next to one another. An amazing date night idea for a broke couple!

Walking in nature/hiking.

One of the greatest experiences you can have with your partner is becoming one with nature. Take a few sandwiches, water bottles, bug spray, and a few water bottles with you and go exploring. Taking a stroll with your partner will elevate your spirits. Is there a better option?

An evening of games.

Game evenings get a bad rap in the dating world. Play your favorite game while you share a six-pack of beer or liquor with your love, and enjoy your favorite snacks together.

Whether you like classic board games or steamy games that you can play with your lover, there is something for everyone.

Livening up movies.

There’s something special about watching a movie with your special someone, but watching it at home on the couch probably sounds more like a romantic event.

Go to free concerts.

You can sometimes catch your favorite acts for free or at a significant discount. These things don’t happen often, but if bae is down, go there together and have the time of your life!

Dinner together.

Try cooking with what you have in your pantry. This date idea is great because it allows you to bond while also improving your teamwork skills.

I hope you have realized that love truly does not cost anything! You can have a romantic evening at home or out on the town with these ideas that won’t break the bank. Having two people in love makes any event more fun. Did you enjoy reading that? Leave a comment below.

Love,

Kiara!
