Unlike 2021, when color blocking, logomania, and ‘hot goth’ were king, 22 is bringing back the sexiness – and we can’t wait to recreate our work from home wardrobes.
The time has come to expose those bodies you’ve kept hidden out of sight for far too long – so think shorts, sheers, or second skin. Do you feel me? More flesh, less fashion.
This year, Pantone (Very Peri) claimed the title of the Color of the Year.
Throwbacks to the Nineties and Y2K are abundant in this season’s collections, as seen in micro-mini skirts, sky-high heels, and glitzy tops.
Swimwear, solar shades, and bold stripes also became a hot trend in 22. We are living in an optimistic age. Let’s go, 2022!
Insanely Low-rise
Fashions from the new millennium are back this season. Formerly, low-rise jeans were a trend, but they were dropped when they were deemed uninclusive. With the world becoming more and more inclusive and accepting, the low rise is now a style that anyone can wear!
Crochet
Gen-Z also enjoys this next fashion trend as a new hobby. Crocheting seems to be taking off globally, especially among young people. You can crochet almost anything – water bottle holders, purses, bags, and clothes. Crochet clothing is so popular because it can be worn in any season from summer to winter and be cute and comfortable.
Layering
A true sense of fashion isn’t solely about how you dress but also how you pair it with others. It has become so popular because of how functional it is. When it’s cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon, layering can be a lifesaver. You don’t have to succumb to the heat on those hot afternoons if you layer. Take off layers until you feel comfortable!
Corset
As far as I can recall, corsets were the rage in the 1800s. In 2022, we have the corset fashion trend back again! Since then, the corset style has resurfaced in many different forms, such as lingerie, a cute top, or layered over other clothes. It is a trendy twist on the vintage corset and something you shouldn’t miss!
Mom Jeans
I love this classic trend. Unlike skinny jeans, mom jeans tend to be baggy around the legs, so they feel like denim sweats, and who wouldn’t want that? Also, they are fashionable, of course. Dress them up with heels and a cute top, or dress them down with converse and an oversized tee. I can get behind this pretty and comfortable fashion trend either way!
Catsuits
It’s true. The iconic 90’s catsuit is back in style. With celebrities wearing catsuits, the trend became one of the hottest fashion trends. This style is getting more popular and is an Instagram-worthy look!
Leather
It has always been in style, but it hasn’t always been trending. Faux leather is the current trend. A leather jacket is a versatile statement piece. Adding a leather jacket to a white cropped top and jeans makes them into something special.
Scarves
Fashionable and colorful, vintage headscarves are back! You can do anything with a piece of fabric the only thing stopping you is your creativity. The scarves can be worn as tops or over a shirt; or as headbands. Scarves are also popular because of their wide price range. You can find these scarves in high-end stores or at your local thrift shop!
