Hey there, ladies! The winter season is in full swing, and it is the perfect time to pamper yourself. Self-care routines that help you relax are all that you need. There’s nothing more relaxing than getting your toes pedicured. A good pedi sesh can ebb away tension and soothe your body. Getting pedicures is a part of an overall beauty routine, and most women enjoy them not just for their pretty feet but as a way to unwind.

For me, having my feet done is a real treat. Salons aren’t on my radar often, but I like getting a pedicure now and then to lighten my mood.

Legs can look unkempt if the heels are dry and cracked. Although your feet can become dry and rough from daily wear and tear, the winter season can introduce a new set of issues, such as cracked heels and calluses. It’s true; we never pay attention to our feet until they yell for help.

But fear not, we’ve rounded up some soothing pedicures for cracked, dry heels. Give one of these a shot and glam up your toes:

Basic Pedicure

In the basic or “regular” pedicure, the feet are soaked in water and treated with an antifungal solution to soften hardened dead skin before being scrubbed. After spending about 15 to 20 minutes soaking your feet, you’ll be filed with a pumice stone or foot file and have your toenails trimmed. You’ll then be moisturized and have your nails painted.

Salt Pedicure

You may be surprised to learn that salt makes a great foot scrub. With a salt pedicure, dead skin cells from your ball and the arch of your foot are exfoliated, leaving your feet feeling softer and smoother. You begin this process by soaking your feet in the water, salt, and sometimes small rocks.

To slough off the dead skin, rub your feet with salt and rocks. Then moisten your feet with a foot cream.

Paraffin Pedicure

A paraffin pedicure is perfect for people who need extra tender care on their feet. This pedicure is particularly helpful for feet that have cracks, are dry, or inflamed. This pedicure involves dipping your feet into a paraffin mixture for 15-30 minutes.

This mixture of waxes and polymers performs beautifully as a humectant. The pores on your feet open up, allowing the moisturizer to absorb better. Once the scrub is complete, apply the moisturizer.

Milk & Honey Pedicure

Milk and honey foot baths are also great for moisturizing the feet. Start by soaking your feet in warm water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Give your feet 5 more minutes in milk before applying a honey mask and scrub.

Fish Pedicure

Those with dry feet might not know about this pedicure, but it’s one worth considering. Your feet are dipped into a tank of harmless fish during a pedicure. It helps to loosen dead skin cells. Trying this pedicure may be challenging, but it’s worth it.

After a pedicure, how to keep them moist?

Here are some tips to extend the life of your pedicure.

Foot cream is a must.

The key to healthy, supple feet is moisturizing. Foot cream works best after washing your feet or taking a bath at night.

Don socks.

As you sleep or go about your daily routine, socks keep the feet moist. To fully absorb the lotion, moisten the bottoms of your feet with it every day, then let them dry before putting on socks. Choosing cotton socks will also allow your skin to breathe.

Avoid harsh soaps.

Especially after a pedicure, alcohol-based soaps and drying agents can hurt your feet. Stick to soaps that contain organic or natural ingredients. Even if you use your regular soap when showering, use a heavy moisturizer to restore hydration to your feet.

How often should dry feet get pedicures?

Once or twice per week. If you use pumice stones or foot files for your pedicure, keep it to twice a week. If you do this more often, your feet can get scratches and tears.

However, you can still soak your feet in a good foot scrub and moisturize them. You can sleep in moisturizing socks to lock in moisture from your nightly foot cream regimen.

Bringing it all together

Do not let dry feet and cracked heels get you down. A weekly or biweekly pedicure is one of the best ways to relieve the symptoms of dry feet. To help maintain your feet and prevent them from becoming dry, stick to a foot care regimen after receiving a pedicure. You should also wear socks and apply nightly foot cream to keep your feet hydrated. It is said that a woman’s feet are the epitome of her breathtaking beauty, so ladies go for any of the pedicures above to have the most beautiful feet.
