We have officially entered the month of December, and needless to say, there’s already a festive feel in the air. Unsurprisingly, Christmas will be somewhat different this year (no corporate parties, no clubhouse, no lavish soirees), but we won’t let it dampen our spirits. Take a new spin on this year’s holiday cheer by participating in fun and wholesome indoor activities with the family. We’ve rounded up some super awesome activities to lighten up your holiday. Scroll down to find out more.

Get DIY Eggnog On the Go!
Eggnog on the brain? How about making it yourself this time? It’s thick, creamy, and has just the right amount of nutmeg and mild flavor to let the festive vibes jazz up your day. I’m going to show you how to make delightful eggnog at home.
Step 1: To prepare the egg yolk, put the yolk and sugar into a bowl and mix them. Stir cream, milk, salt, and nutmeg gently in a saucepan over medium heat until barely simmering. To temper, the eggs, add small amounts of the hot mixture to the egg mixture.
Step 2: Stir each spoonful into the saucepan and add the entire mixture back once it is warmed up. Cook and whisk the mixture for just one or two minutes more. The batter will continue to thicken as it cools, so take the pot off the heat and add the vanilla. Cool it off.
Step 3: You can decorate the top with some whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg if you like. To counterbalance the sweetness of the eggnog, select an alcohol drink that contains a high alcohol concentration. Brandy, rum, bourbon, and whisky are common alcohol additions to eggnog.

Calendar for Advent!
An Advent calendar is a seasonal calendar that counts down the days to Christmas with anticipation. Generally, these calendars have “windows” that open to reveal images, poems, parts of stories (such as the tale of Jesus’ Nativity), or gifts, like candy or toys. Didn’t find an advent calendar you like yet? Now you have a great reason to make your own.
Consider these ideas:
- Make your own Christmas door decoration.
- Organize a cookie swap for kids.
- Sport a fun braided holiday tree fun hairstyle.
- Read some Christmas stories.
- Dress up in a festive sweater.

Organize a Paint & Sip!
The group painting class has gained popularity since the turn of the century. It guides you from start to finish as you paint your masterpiece. Instead of signing up for a group class, try out your creativity at home with a blank canvas, paint, and some brushes. You can find online video tutorials for creating your masterpiece that you can play on your television or computer. Get even more creative by finding a tutorial themed around a holiday, such as Santa’s atelier or winter paradise.
