While we were just starting our relationship, we became friends over a shared love of traveling and adventuring. Whenever the topic of travel comes up, we spend hours talking, which led us to buy a one-way ticket and go on an unforgettable trip.

When I reflected on my trip, the expression “traveling together is a wonderful test of a relationship” kept popping into my head.

We experienced both the best and worst of ourselves during our journey through 28 countries over 12 months.

Traveling with your partner is a definite YES!!

A little break from the same pattern every now and then can be a great way to re-energize a relationship. You and your partner might find some of these ideas helpful if this describes your situation!

Strengthens the relationship

There are many obstacles you must overcome when traveling. It is often difficult for people to adjust to living in a new place, finding lodging, food, sleep, and other matters. Couples who can negotiate through these difficulties without squabbling are sure to remain together. You can therefore strengthen your relationships by working together. You don’t have to survive in a jungle surrounded by cannibals, but a picnic or even scuba diving may be far more enjoyable.

Improves understanding

Unfamiliar locations throw you off your comfort zone. When you step outside your comfort zones, you act and react differently. As a result, you’ll get to know each other better and may even be with a whole new person.

As you’re on a trip together, and you’re both devoted to each other, nothing is distracting you since you have no work that eats up half of your date. You can also test your compatibility by traveling together.

Make new memories

If you think back on your relationship, all your memories may come from the same old places, such as restaurants, cafes, and parks. Discovering new things in life, seeing new places, and experiencing new cultures are all worthwhile. By doing this, you can create new memories and recall fascinating information from your trip.

Gives a sense of safety

Suddenly, you find yourself in a foreign city or country, surrounded by people who probably don’t speak the same language you do. It can be daunting at times. But having someone close to you is essential. While traveling alone may sound exciting and fun, traveling with a partner will ensure your safety even if things go wrong. When traveling alone, it’s not advisable to hitchhike or enter unfamiliar territory at night. With a partner, you have someone watching over your back. Moreover, it feels safer and more comfortable.

Relationships become more romantic

You could rekindle your relationship with a change of scenery. Couples who travel together often feel more in love than those who don’t travel together.

Know each other’s limits

A travel plan requires thorough research, preparation, and planning. Trying to make your trip seamless can be stressful. One of you may be very organized, and the other one likes to go with the flow. By planning a trip together and going on it, you will gain deeper insight into each other’s strengths and weaknesses and work together to enhance your respective roles.

Reviving Your Relationship

Routine is the biggest fear of every couple. The routine of a couple can ruin all romance since you’re more concerned about work and housekeeping than with one another. When you travel, you can rejuvenate your relationships. Since nothing will bother you while you are out of the country, you can spend quality time with your partner.

Some ideas:

  • Take a couple’s class (cooking, photography, wine tasting, etc.)
  • Educate each other (this will get your partner interested in your interests and will facilitate communication)
