Apple Watch Series 6
Succeeding Series 5 of 2019, the new series rolled out in September 2020 with sophisticated design and enhanced processors. The highlight of this model was the blood oxygen sensor. Other than that, many variants of bands and finishes are available in the market. Though the core specifications of this model remain the same as Series 5, there are few changes that you must know.

What are its key features?

- The Blood-oxygen sensor
As mentioned, the best addition to this series is the blood-oxygen sensor. In the present Covid-19 scenario, pulse oximeters are high in demand. So, this is a bonus for you if you are planning to get your hands on one. It measures the oxygen levels using four photodiodes (a device used to convert light into electric current) on the back of the watch. It has four clusters of red, green, and infrared LED lights. When these lights shine on the blood vessels through your wrist, some of it bounces back. The photodiodes measure the light that bounces back. It determines the color of your blood and hence, the oxygen levels of your body. - It uses an improved Chip. Another enhanced feature of this new addition is the S6 silicon chip, based on a dual-core processor derived from A13. It allows the watch to perform at a 20% faster rate and last for 18 long hours.
- Altimeter. It has an always-on altimeter which allows the users to measure even the slightest elevation. The watch will track the elevation even in a real-life situation, for example, on a hike. It collects the information using nearby wifi and GPS. However, many users across the globe claim it shows incorrect readings. They say that it is almost 200 to 300 meters higher than the actual height. You might have to keep a check on this feature.
- Sleep Tracker. There are some other benefits drawing attention to this model. It offers some other health and wellness features including, a sleep tracker, which lets the battery last 30% throughout the night. It has a bedtime feature too that you can set using the Health App. It is a simple and easy-to-use feature that will allow you to keep track of your sleep cycle.
- Hand Wash detector. It also includes a hand washing detector that uses motion sensors and a microphone to detect handwashing motions and the sound of running water. It is a perfect addition during the pandemic, which will remind you to wash your hands properly every time.

Is the Apple Watch 6 worth the money?
The 6th Series of Apple Watch has considerably dominated the market globally as its sales growth is back to pre-pandemic levels. With this new model, the company conceptualized reducing electronic waste. The Apple Watch Series 6 and SE came without the main charger, unlike its preceding models. You can go for dual chargers that are available in most apple stores. These chargers will allow you to charge your iPhone and smartwatch simultaneously. It is one of the key reasons why the model is gaining such popularity.

Though there are many reasons to fall in love with this watch, you might consider a few aspects before spending your money. If you already have one from Series 4 or Series 5, you should not be going for an upgrade. It is solely because most of the features are available in Series 5, if not in Series 4. It will only make you spend more money on the new addition. The always-on display feature present in the new series will impact the overall battery life throughout the day. Even the altimeter feature is not much of use in your everyday life. So, for someone with a Series 5 or Series 6, spending such a large amount of money for the minimal upgrade is not the best idea.

Are there newer versions to the series? Yes, it does not end here with Apple Watch 6. Like every year, Apple plans to launch the Apple Watch Series 7 towards the end of September 2021. The new model is likely to be powered with watchOS8 and many new features. It would probably come with an S7 chip, making it even faster than the existing ones. We also expect to see more Apple products this year including, iPhone13.
