Dear Petrica,

I feel so happy reading all your blogs. I keep waiting for your answers to questions which people keep asking. You are so positive about everything. That is the only reason even I wanted to write to you. Last week while I was shopping, I found nice; floral scarves. I thought I would buy one for myself. But then I kept wondering that “Do scarves really work or is it more of a fashion statement?”

Simone!

Hi Simone!

Thank you, beautiful for, writing to me. I feel so happy to receive so much love from you guys. I am sure most of our female readers must be having the same question. Let me tell you Simone even I am a shopaholic just like you. So, I will answer your question with my incident.

I think that scarf is one of the simplest forms of adornment: a single piece of cloth. For this reason, it is one of the most versatile clothing accessories used for centuries across a variety of cultures for many different purposes. Yes, we can say that the colors, patterns, and styles of this drape have changed with time, but it is still here to stay, flirting with the imaginations of fashion designers. Simone, scarves do have their use; if not, they would be obsolete. They are both functional and practical to use. They also add panache to an otherwise dull outfit. People use them in hiding scars, bruises, birthmarks, etc.

Last year, my mother gifted me two ribbed wool scarves to wear for work. I also have a nice Northface fleece scarf which I wear with my down jacket. I keep knotting the scarves tightly. Typically, when the temperatures start to cool here, I wear gloves and scarves alone before breaking out my sweaters. I do this because I have to travel a lot by bus. In winter, when I am smashed together with other commuters, the public transportation becomes saunas. Hence, it gets easy for me to loosen my scarf and remove the gloves. Also, when I am not in the mood to put on any accessories when partying, I use it as my headband. It looks attractive and gives a sharp appearance too. In summers, I also cover my neck and face to protect myself from the scorching heat. So, yes, they work great to protect you from the scorching sun and chilling cold.

Hence, never doubt the usefulness of a scarf. I would also say that every woman should have at least three different types of scarves in her wardrobe. It really helps! I hope, your question has been answered!

Love,

Petrica!
