Do you have a big trip coming up? Are you confused about all your packing essentials? Don’t worry. I have made your chore a little less tiresome and wrote a complete packing list. So, here is the ultimate guide to remind you of the essentials that you will need to buy for your travel. Knowing how to pack a backpack for a long trip is a bit difficult task. But treat this as a packing checklist and tick off every item as you go.

When it comes to packing, the best way to backpack is to save space. My top tip would be to fold your clothes efficiently. Place heavy stuff at the bottom of the bag, and things that leak will go in plastic bags. This tip will be useful for suitcases for air travel too, not just backpacks.

1.)   PASSPORT:

The first and foremost thing to pack for your travels is your passport. It is your key to enter another country. If you don’t have a passport then be sure to apply for one as quickly as possible! Sometimes, passport processing can consume a lot of time, especially during busy seasons. So, it is also advisable to make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months after your trip, as some countries need this document for you to pass through their borders. So, once you have ticked everything off your pre-travel checklist and before you proceed ahead for your adventure, one last check for that important little book won’t hurt.

2.)   ADAPTERS:

Every other place that you travel has an entirely different voltage level coming out of its sockets. Hence, an adapter is required to plug your electronic devices into. So, never forget your adaptors. Buying adapters at the airport can be very expensive. Hence, always buy and carry two adapters for your travels so that you can charge your electronic appliances very easily.

3.)   PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER:

So, we all know that feeling when our phones run out of battery on the road. So, make sure that you bring a portable charger with you so that you can give your phone the same charge on the go. You would never want your phone battery to die when you are lost in the city or miss out on clicking amazing pictures.

4.)   SUNGLASSES AND SUNSCREEN:

Sun protection is always crucial in the backcountry when you have coated enough that sunburns are not a risk. So, simply start with proper SPF-rated layering, and be sure to pack sunscreen and sunglasses too. The best sunglasses you can pack are the ones that offer both UVA and UVB protection. Also, these are good when you spend any time near snow or water-in that case, polarised lenses are good options.

5.)   CLOTHES INCLUDING PJ’S:

Always make sure that you take a mix of light layers and warm layers for your trip. It is always good to look up the weather before you go and pack accordingly. Packing light is an artist’s work, and with limited space in your backpack, you have to be strict with yourself. Always take into consideration the kind of activities you will be doing during your travel and prepare accordingly. It is useful when you will be partying, skiing, snorkeling, or sightseeing around the city. Also, carry your pajamas when you are going on a trip. It is one of the most comfortable wears that makes your traveling easy.

6.)   WALKING SHOES:

If you are planning for walking and hiking, then “walking shoes” is a must. It is always best to wear your bulkiest shoes at the airport so that you can save space in your backpack.

7.)   PAINKILLERS AND PRESCRIBED MEDICINES:

Always carry painkillers and medicines in their original labeled packages. Painkillers or allergy tablets come in handy for periods, muscle aches, stomach aches. So, just in case you need them, you don’t have to rush to a pharmacy to fetch them. Also, make sure that you can carry medicine in your hand luggage with a copy of your prescription. Make sure that you check for the expiry dates of your medicines. Also, if you are traveling to a warm country, get advice from your pharmacist about its storage.

8.)   WATER BOTTLE:

To stay hydrated on the road, always carry a water bottle. Most travel backpacks have a water bottle compartment so it is easy to carry. These reusable water bottles don’t create pollution and are cost-wise efficient too. So, it is always great that you save money and carry your water bottle while traveling.

9.)   CAMERA:

Smartphones are good options while traveling, but there is still no replacement for the incredible focal range, beefy sensors, beautiful depth of field, and ultra-high quality of a DSLR camera. Real travelers and travel enthusiasts love traveling with cameras to capture great shots. So, make sure that you carry your camera and camera charger too while you are traveling.

10.) DEODRANT:

When it comes to packing deodorant, I would suggest taking a roll-on for traveling because it is hassle-free. A spray deodorant can be harmful at times. So, always prefer a roll-on.

These essentials are a must to carry. So, don’t forget to have these things included in your travel kit.
